What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

Non-Personally-Identifying Information

Like most website operators, Stroud Water Research Center collects non-personally identifying information that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request.

We collect non-personally identifying information to better understand how visitors use the website. From time to time, Stroud Water Research Center may release non-personally identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in website usage.

Personally-Identifying Information

Certain visitors to our websites choose to interact with Stroud Water Research Center in ways that require us to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that we gather depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who register accounts for their email address.

Those who engage in transactions with Stroud Water Research Center are asked to provide additional information, including, as necessary, the personal and financial information required to process those transactions. In each case, Stroud Water Research Center collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with Stroud Water Research Center.

Stroud Water Research Center does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. Visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.

Contact Forms/Email Communications

Some visitors to Stroud Water Research Center’s websites choose to interact with us by submitting personally-identifying information through a contact form or by emailing an address administered by Stroud Water Research Center. We do not store contact data in the website database; we transmit it via email to select Stroud Water Research Center employees and affiliated individuals who need it to respond on Stroud Water Research Center’s behalf.

We may check user registrations through an automated spam detection service.

How Long We Retain Your Data

  • Shipping address (if required): We’ll ask you to enter this so we can, for instance, estimate shipping before you place an order, and send you the order.

We’ll also use cookies to keep track of cart contents while you’re browsing our site.

When you purchase from us, we’ll ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details, and optional account information like username and password. We’ll use this information to:

To process recurring subscription payments, we store the customer’s name, billing address, shipping address, email address, and credit card/payment details.

We generally store your information for as long as we need it for the purposes for which we collect and use it, and we are not legally required to keep it longer. This includes your name, email address, and billing and shipping addresses.
